By now, most of us will have heard of google bombing or the artificial way of inreasing your site's visibility in search. For example, most of us will have been urged to type "miserable failure" into Google and get details of "yo" G Dubbya! A favourite of mine is to type in "French military victories", but that's another story.
Does it work I wondered. So I deliberately set up a blog called Google Bomber on Blogger, owned by Google and put a few links back to the blog--see experiment.
Well, I on the one hand I am pleased to say that Blogger has frozen the blog pending a review as in its words "it looks like spam." Which on the surface is great as we all hate spam.
However, I am interested to see what the response to its automated response is. "you look like an automated site, said an automated script"
And I am only linking to my site and not any others which could in theory be classed as PR or marketing?
So are there darker forces at work. Is it that they don't like the words Google bomber. Is there some NSA and FBI computer scanning it for other key words, quite possibly.
Time will tell.
